“It has been announced that that the Green Good Housekeeping Seal (GGHS) for the “Paint and Coatings Category” has designated Benjamin Moore & Companies Natura paint line as the first seal holder.   Benjamin Moore stated that the water-based, zero –VOC product line was selected following state of the art product testing conducted at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.   This product is “virtually odorless and splatter resistant” and offers “washability performance,” the company says.

“The Green Good Housekeeping Seal was designed to set a mainstream bar for consumers who wish to live in environmentally – responsible lifestyle and buy products that are healthy for their families and their planet,” said Miriam Arnold, director of the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.”

Harabowski III, president of the University of Maryland Baltimore County, will provide the Making College Real luncheons keynote address.   You may have seen Dr. Harbowski interviewed on 60 Minutes.

We ask you to join us at our second annual Ada S McKinley Making College Real luncheon on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the University Club of Chicago. We hope you will attend and that we can count on you as a sponsor for this year’s important event that provides positive changes for hundreds of students in Chicago.

The luncheon celebrates the work of McKinley’s College Preparation and Placement Program and its sister component, the Early Intervention College Preparation and Placement Program.   These programs build academic proficiency in students, assist them in navigating through the college admission process and help them find ways to defray the high costs associated with college.

Started by the late Silas Purnell in 1967 with a grant from the Chicago Community Trust, McKinley’s College Preparation and Placement Program has made it possible for more than 50,000 low income high school students to attend more than 400 colleges and universities around our nation. And the Early Intervention College Preparation and Placement Program helps some 320 middle school students each year.   As you can see our programs work.

Not only will we honor Dr. Hrabowski, but also Dr. Timothy Knowles of the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute and others.   We will also honor three McKinley students for their academic success.

“If your shutters will be custom-made, know that once you sign on the dotted line, you own the shutters as they will be made specifically for the size of your windows.”  The same thing applies to custom-made louvered doors for residential or commercial use.

“A common question: “Do you need curtains or other fabric treatment added to the shutters for a finished look?”  The answer is no.  The shutters can stand alone, as they are elegant and make a statement of strength and stability on their own.   That doesn’t mean you can’t have Fabric treatment added.   Side panels of a fabric that works with your decor can be nice, but know that the shutters alone stand majestic without added frill.”
