The Forward Collection
The collection is a momentous step in the evolution of the Vladimir Kagan brand, conceived by Chris Eitel, Kagan’s longtime protégé, now director of design and production for the Vladimir Kagan Design Group. Each piece demonstrates Eitel’s fluency in Kagan’s practice, resulting in a collection that nods to the brand DNA while subtly pushing the design language in innovative directions.

Big Picture Sofa is a contemporary design that pushes the boundaries of iconic Kagan details. At a glance, the double-crescent form creates the illusion that it is nested. Instead, the seat cantilevers from the back in a true feat of engineering, balanced by the zaftig outer crescent back.
The Bienenstock Coffee Table is a contemporary design incorporating distinct Kagan details. The table was inspired by the Omnibus Collection and its signature Lucite bases, a clear nod to a defining Kagan material. Precision manufacturing allows the piece to fit together seamlessly, including a decorative storage box to float within the design. The storage box is finished in a tortoiseshell pattern with shimmering gold-leaf underlay, or is offered in a range of colored lacquers and lined with the customer’s own choice of fabric or leather.
Vladimir Kagan was ahead of his time when it came to ergonomic design, creating pieces that supported the body while simultaneously making a style statement. This contemporary stool from the Kagan studio carries on in that tradition. The hand-carved walnut legs mimic the animalistic nature of classic Kagan designs, as they lead into a curvaceous ergonomic seat that was inspired by Western and English riding saddles.
The Sculpted Wood Loveseat Open Back harnesses the power of negative space with a whiplash curve embracing—but not entirely encompassing—a kidney-shaped seat. The curve is meticulously clad in stacked and carved walnut, a dramatic design element reminiscent of Vladimir Kagan’s limited-edition Annecy Sofa.
