The Richard Norton Gallery was founded in 2000. They offer a broad aesthetic range of paintings, drawings and sculpture spanning numerous artistic movements, including Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Realism, Abstraction, Cubism, Surrealism, and Expressionism. A main focus of the gallery is Chicago Modern artwork of the early Twentieth Century. Exhibitions that helped define the gallery’s focus include Albert Krehbiel, Pauline Palmer, Karl Buehr, Medard Klein, Robert Erickson, Walter Burt Adams, Hanaiah Harari, Gerrit Sinclair, Richard Koppe, Francis Chapin, Walter Krawiec, R. Leroy Turner, Edgar Miller and Georges Maurice Cloud. Additionally, the gallery has dedicated exhibitions to important private collections, such as the Bridges Collection of Chicago Painting, 1885-1945. Many of these artists were avant-garde leaders in artistic movements and achieved considerable fame for their artwork during their lifetimes. Though often, the artwork presented by the gallery has not been seen by the public in over half a century. This to the trade only galley in the Design Center, at theMart is committed to reintroducing the artwork of both historically acclaimed and rediscovered painters to a contemporary audience. Through the gallery exhibitions and publications, it is their aim to preserve, document and contextualize an artist’s legacy.

Francis Chapin, affectionately known as the “Dean of Chicago Painters” by his colleagues, was one of the city’s most popular and celebrated painters in his day. Born at the dawn of the 20th Century in Bristolville, Ohio, Chapin graduated from Washington & Jefferson College near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before enrolling at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1922.

A. George Miller was born in Monroe, MI in 1904 and attended the Art Institute of Chicago beginning in 1923. Miller was one of the three official photographers for the 1933-34 Chicago World’s Fair, The Century of Progress. And he exhibited his artwork at the museum’s Annual Exhibitions. His paintings typically show a Modernist, linear technique and often depict city scenes and urban landscapes.

Robert Geppert was born in Wilmette, IL in 1925. His father owned the Denoyer-Geppert Company that made maps and globes. As a teenager, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, yet managed to graduate from the Institute of Design in Chicago, IL with a degree in architecture. He also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked briefly as a draftsman and continued his work as a fine artist.

Interior Crafts, Inc. was founded by Vito Ursini and Jerry Seiff in 1951. This Chicago based furniture manufacturer perfected the art of upholstery, wood working and finishing under one roof. “Interior design is a process.  And a collaboration with you.  Because to you it is more than a project – it’s your home or office. We create environments designed to reflect and express the individual tastes of the clients who live and work in those spaces. My job is to guide you from the beginning ideas and concepts to the finished rooms, and have you enjoy every step of the way”.                                                                          

Originally from the Kansas City Missouri area I started my college education at the University of Northern Colorado and completed my schooling at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where I received a B.A. in Art History. It was during this time that I decided to pursue my interest in art and interior design.

I began my work in the interior design field with a firm in Kansas City. My initial duties required me to make trips to Chicago for selections and orders. After a short time I established an office for the firm in Chicago.

I chose to stay in Chicago and took a position with a design firm on the North Shore. Ultimately I joined Greg Stratman Interiors at their LaSalle Street offices. When Stratman closed it’s doors in 1990 I became a licensed Interior Designer and went into business on my own.  I have come to understand how to put my personal taste aside and work to the particular desires of each individual client by using diverse styles of furniture, textiles, textures, and color.  It is true that my personal design style leans toward Art Deco and 30’s modernism. However, this never colors the work I do for my clients because of my diverse education and, having the good fortune to work with seasoned professionals throughout my career.

At Glen Lusby Interiors our goal with every client is to work with them; not for them.  We feel this makes the design process go more smoothly and allows our client  to have fun with the project. We understand it’s important for the you to enjoy the working relationship and the time invested, because the finished product is going to be with them for a long time. This approach to the design process, along with our technical skills, accounts for the longevity of many of our clients, some of whom we have worked with for over 20 years.  We would like to be your trusted consultant when you have questions relating to your home or place of business.

Two years, 200,000 exposures, thousands of dollars in downtown parking, countless hours of rendering and about 100 (long) nights in Chicago.

Max Wilson had a distinct vision when he devised a time-lapse project titled “Windy City Nights.” His love of the city after dark, coupled with a fascination for time-lapse photography, resulted in (CLICK HERE- six stunning minutes of Chicago’s ) angles, lights and constant movement when no one is really looking.
