Sossego was formed after a most unexpected and serendipitous meeting in Ann Arbor, Michigan of two native Brazilians: the award-winning furniture designer Aristeu Pires and Jonathan Durling. Although born in the USA, Jonathan has dual USA and Brazilian citizenship, and spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Brazil. The two connected with their mutual appreciation for modern design and Brazilian culture. Jonathan, an artist and businessman in his own right, was overwhelmed with Aristeu’s complete oeuvre.
